On February 3, 2008 Jason Vassell was the target of a racist hate crime. Since then he has been further victimized by a racist prosecution. We, a coalition of community organizations, students and faculty, seek your support in challenging this racist prosecution.
How can you help organize nationally?

Up until quite recently, the campaign for Justice for Jason was a local, Western MA-focused campaign.  We are trying now to develop regional and national networks of support.  We would really appreciate any help with the following: -

1.) Increased media exposure. Do you write for a publication (newspaper, newsletter, blog, etc)? Would you be willing to write a piece about the case and the growing movement? Do you have contacts with any national columnists?

2.) Increased national pressure. We have been gradually increasing local pressure on the DA over the past several months–but now we need national pressure as well. You can express your outrage in three simple ways:

a) Sign the petition and tell all your friends to sign as well.

b) Participate in the February 3rd National Call-In Day to the DA’s office and invite all your friends to the facebook group:

c) Join the Coalition for Justice for Jason. We are looking for organizations around the country to join in solidarity to show the breadth and depth of support for Jason.

3.) Organized Communities. We are looking for folks that are willing to actively organize in their own communities around the country in support of Jason. Get in touch with us and we’ll put you in contact with other supporters in your area.
